I wish I had read this book 20 years ago when I was just beginning ministry. This book outlines discipleship in a local church. Like any man-written book, I don't agree with every single word. However, the emphasis of the book is Scriptural and logical. Discipling is done through one-on-one interactions between church members. The pastor cannot disciple every member of the church. Furthermore, the pastor is not the only person required by God to mature the saints at the church. We are to be maturing one another.
This book, however, will help a pastor begin to model discipleship to his congregation. Hopefully, this model will flow down through the pews and the church will grow spiritually (and numerically), God willing. This is the Scriptural model for church growth. The foundational emphasis of this book is Spirit empowered preaching and one-on-one discipling relationships. I have never in my life seen a church fully committed to these obviously Biblical instructions. Is it any wonder our churches today are struggling to stay alive? Every church leader must read this book. www.goodreads.com/review/list/9693974-todd-bryant
